In recent years, games designers have grown up, and are designing games that are not just ways of scoring points, but are more mature emotional experiences like a movie or a great TV series. 
The Last of Us is the story of two survivors in a world that has been destroyed by disease. Joel, a middle aged man who will do anything to survive, teams up with fourteen year old Ellie, and together they must cross a post-apocalyptic United States and defend themselves against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected with a virus. 
The relationship between Joel and Ellie is the central focus of the game, with all other parts developed around it. Actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson portray Joel and Ellie through voice and motion capture, and the original score was composed and performed by Gustavo Santaolalla.
The Last of Us was one of the best-selling games on the PlayStation 3, selling over 1.3 million units in its first week and over eight million units within fourteen months. 
It won many Game of the Year awards from several gaming magazines, critics, and game award ceremonies, making it one of the most awarded games in history, and is considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time.
